Pocklington School shooting team shone at the Yorkshire Schools Challenge, with its five-strong boys’ team joint winners and fifth year Edward Wraith achieving the highest individual score.
Teams from as far afield as Warwick entered the competition, which attracted 50 shooters and was held at Park Lodge Shooting School.
The team performed well in gusty winds, recording a score of 182 out of 250 to share first place with Warwick in the boys’ event – an excellent result for Jack Nut, Ashley Johnson, Edward Wraith, James Wraith and Will Wraith.
Edward was Pocklington’s star performer with 43 out of 50 to win the boys’ High Gun award and was presented with a high-quality cartridge bag by one of the event’s sponsors.
The girls’ competition was won by Warwick with 130 out of 250.
