Pocklington School recently played host to its annual Primary Team Maths Challenge Day.
Nine local primary school teams of four children, accompanied by a staff member, took part in the challenge which uses questions set by the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust. Mount Pleasant School in Market Weighton emerged as winners in a very closely fought contest, there were only 10 points separating the top three teams with second place a tie between Driffield and Warter School.
The children enjoyed using all their maths and teamwork skills to soar through the day’s challenges, which comprised of 5 rounds: group round, crossnumber, logic, speed and shuttle relay.
Mr Cullen, head of mathematics, said: “It was a successful day, all the children threw themselves into the activities with great enthusiasm and energy. It was a very close competition, with a very high standard of work achieved by all the competitors.”
