Woldgate’s under-15 girls’ football team enjoyed a comfortable victory in round 6 of the ESFA Playstation School Cup.
The opposition were South Hunsley, a highly regarded team in the East Riding. The team were nervous, however, hard work at training and a strong team spirit ensured Woldgate displayed one of their best performances yet.
Woldgate opened the scoring, with a skilful goal, soon followed by another goal to take them 2-0 ahead. One of our Year 10 girls continued to put in a fantastic performance scoring four more goals. South Hunsley did not give up and their grit and determination paid off when they scored halfway through the second half.
The final score was 6-1 to Woldgate. The under-15 girls’ team are now through to the quarter finals of this national competition.
A spokesperson for the school said: “Every member of the squad were outstanding.”
