A fundraising duo from Pocklington, who recently returned from a trip to an orphanage in Africa, have given a presentation at a school in the town about their visit to the institution.

Amy Henderson, 30, of Percy Road, and William Brown, 26, of Barmby Road, travelled to the Great Living Orphanage in Uganda for a week. The pair have been running a fundraising drive in aid of the orphanage. They were invited to talk to youngsters at Pocklington Infant School, to give the pupils an insight into the lives of people at the orphanage.

The presentation focused on highlighting the differences between life as a child in Uganda and that of a child growing up here. Amy and William also talked about what they have already done to help improve the children’s lives and what they hope to do in the future for them.

Amy said: “The children seemed to respond well to what we shared with them and asked some very good questions to discover more about how their lives differ from those of the orphans.”
