Children from Barmby Moor Primary School have raised almost £200 for flood victims in York following a 10-year-old pupil’s initiative.
Pupils from the school hosted a non-uniform day and a toy sale to raise money for families affected by the floods in York and surrounding areas.
Georgina, aged 10, came up with the idea and 105 pupils joined together and George, aged 10, suggested they also have a toy sale. Their ideas managed to raise £188.50.
A spokesperson from the school said: “We had lots of donations and pupils were keen to buy things too. It’s good of them to think about someone else and want to help them.”
