The Archbishop of York addressed pupils, parents and staff from Pocklington School during a special service at York Minster to mark the school’s Quincentenary.

Dr John Sentamu acted as the preacher at the Founder’s Day Service, which was held precisely 500 years after Henry VIII granted a licence to John Dowman to found a guild in the parish church of Pocklington and found a grammar school in his native town.

The service is the latest in a host of events that have taken place so far this year to mark the school’s milestone year.
