A village in the local area has been named one of the best places to bring up a family for the second year running.
Dunnington has been ranked in the top 20 towns and villages in England and Wales in a survey by Family Investments.
The study looked at crime, schools, childcare, housing affordability and facilities like parks and green spaces.
Dunnington is 10th in the country and second in Yorkshire behind Swanland, Hull.
The village has scored highly for its good educational results and a crime rate below the average nationwide.
This is the first year that GCSE results have been included in the survey and Dunnington’s are particularly impressive, with 88 per cent of students gaining A*-C grades, more than twice the national average.
Alf Deuchars, chairman of Dunnington Parish Council, has welcomed the news.
He said: “We are very pleased to receive this recognition.
“We have quite a thriving community with three pubs and a sports club. To add to that we’ve got a good range of shops, a doctors surgery and a good school.”
