Driffield teen James Shepherdson, 17, joined East Yorkshire MP Greg Knight at the Houses of Parliament for a week of work experience in July.

This month James is entering into his final year at Uppingham School in Rutland and is a keen politics student there.

During his time in London, James was able to watch debates in the House of Commons as well as sit in on select committee meetings, had a tour of the Palace of Westminster and he assisted with the day to day running of Mr Knight’s office in Westminster.

James said: “It was great to be given the chance to see what it is really like in the heart of British politics and certainly an experience that I will never forget”.

Nr Knight said said: “It is great to give someone young interested in politics a chance to see firsthand what it is like at Westminster and hopefully give him some insight into how our democratic system works”.
