Pocklington Arts Centre will host a World Down Syndrome Day event on Wednesday 21 March with artist Sue Clayton and photographer David Kenward between 6pm and 8pm.

The duo’s joint exhibition at the venue, which has been kindly sponsored by the Friends of Pocklington Arts Centre, runs until Saturday 24 March.

Sue Clayton is an artist who specialises in portraiture.

Capturing the raw beauty of the human face through bold brushstrokes, she encourages the vibrancy of the sitter to shine through with the use of a bold palette. All the models in this exhibition have Down Syndrome, their joy and character for all to see.

David is an award-winning photographer with Down’s Syndrome.

A spokesman said: “He has a passion for wildlife and wild places. This, combined with his keen observational skills and eye for detail, leads him to capture spontaneous moments which fleetingly pass.”
