A Pocklington woman is taking on the ‘March to a Million’ challenge to raise funds for the charity Mind.

Dianne Richardson will be part of a team hoping to complete the distance, which is the equivalent to walking from York to Disneyland Paris.

More teams are wanted to take part in the test and anyone wishing to sponsor the event can visit the JustGiving website (see below).

If a team of five people walks more than 6,500 steps each a day then in March they will have completed the one million step challenge.

Dianne said: “We’ve worked out that one million steps is approximately 500 miles, which is the distance from York to Disneyland Paris.

“As somebody that suffers with mental health problems I wanted to come up with an idea that not only raises money for a mental health charity but can, in itself help my own mental health.

“Since starting to try and get regular exercise I have noticed that the days that I work out I have better mental health than the days that I don’t.

“I think Mind do amazing work to help people with Mental Health issues and love that the stigma of Mental health seems to be breaking down.”
