Campaigners striving to re-open a rail-link from York to Beverley are planning to stage a demonstration next month.

It comes after the Minsters’ Rail Campaign was dealt a major blow by East Riding Council, which did not included the £220million scheme in its East Riding Local Plan, saying it could only back proposals which were ‘deliverable’.

Campaign chairman George McManus is bitterly disappointed by the decision, and says he wants to organise a demonstration to take place on 8 January, outside County Hall in Beverley, in a desperate bid to try and make the council change its mind.
