A stylist with a Beverley hair and beauty salon was today rubbing shoulders with the stars, after winning a prestigious national competition.
Jayne Allinson, a stylist at Beverley’s De Lacy Spa, proved she was a cut above other hundreds of other contestants from all over the globe when she was named as one of the winners of the Cloud Nine competition.
The winners have been invited to style the hair of runway models at London Fashion Week and Jayne was in the capital today to represent the salon at the event.
She won the competition with a photo shoot which showed her working on the hair of model Georgia Smith, who the salon discovered while attending a charity event at Longcroft School in Beverley.
Salon director Kerris Lacy said: “The team have not done any photo competition before so it was all new to us.
“We entered for a bit of fun and to gain some experience in photographic work. When we got the letter that we had won we were all ecstatic, to say the least!”
Jayne, who has lived and worked in Australia for the past eight years, recently returned to East Yorkshire.
She said: “It’s great working in a busy salon like De Lacy Spa, meeting new people all the time and then getting the chance to do some amazing photo shoots too.”
The salon also enjoyed success in another recent competition, when they scooped the National Health and Safety Award at the Habia Health and Safety Award ceremony at London Excel.
Kerris added: “I think we may need an awards cabinet, the way we are going!”
