Crowds gathered around the Christmas tree in Pocklington’s Market Place last week to sing carols with the mayor.

The event, on Sunday 15 December, saw dozens of people turn out to join in the festive fun, including Mayor of Pocklington, councillor Ann Cox, and Pocklington Community Junior School’s choir.

In addition, Pocklington town councillor Peter Winterton played the keyboard.

After the event, the Fresh Food Deli, on Market Place, put on a buffet inside Pocklington Arts Centre for the carol singers to enjoy.

Coun Cox said: “It was good. We had a good turnout.

“The junior school choir did really well.”

About £100 was raised from the event for the mayor’s chosen charities- Pocklington Relief in Need and Pocklington Play Area Group.
