The trial of a man accused of murdering Full Sutton businessman Peter Battle began on Tuesday at Teesside Crown Court.
Graham Richardson, 27, of Riverside View, in Norton, has been charged with murdering 56-year-old Mr Battle, but pleaded not guilty at a court hearing in May.
Mr Battle, an antiques dealer and trader on eBay, was found dead in his rural bungalow in Full Sutton in January this year.
Richardson is also facing a charge of possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply and theft of property from Mr Battle’s home between 29 December 2012 and 28 January.
In addition, he is accused of the robbery of Michael Cleaver along with two other men in Carmot Street, York, on 9 December - before Mr Battle met his death.
Darren Archer, 43, of Robinson Court, Walmgate, York, and Peter Egan, 48, of Warwick Street, York, are the other men accused of the robbery of Mr Cleaver.
All three men are now on trial, which is expected to last about five weeks.
