Men attempt to steal puppy in robbery

An appeal for witnesses has been launched after two men attempted to steal a dog in Pocklington.

The incident happened on a footpath parallel to the Canal Lane, Pocklington at around 11am last Friday.

A 41-year-old man was walking his 14-month-old Rottweiler bitch puppy along the footpath when two strangers approached him and demanded he hand over his dog.

The victim refused and following a short scuffle, the men ran off towards the Canal Lane and A1079 junction in Pocklington.

During the scuffle one of the offenders was bitten by the Rottweiler on their wrist.

The victim sustained bruising to his ribs and swelling to his forehead but didn’t require medical treatment.

One of the suspects is described as white, 6ft tall with a broad build and with dark coloured hair and a short beard. He was wearing a black and white striped beanie hat and a parker type coat.

The other suspect is described as white, 6ft tall and had gingery coloured stubble. He was wearing a black beanie hat and a sports style 3/4 length jacket.
