A MARKET Weighton man has been sentenced after shooting a teenage girl in the neck with a high-powered air rifle.
Dominic Cyril Blanchard, 41, of Clay Lane, fired the rifle at a group of friends, travelling in separate vehicles, when they turned in to Clay Lane to turn around.
Humberside Police said he hit two of the cars and injured a 17-year-old girl who required surgery to remove the pellet which lodged in her neck close to a main artery.
Blanchard was arrested and a high-powered air rifle was seized by the police.
He was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, suspended for two years, for possessing a fire arm with intent to cause violence and for unlawful wounding.
In addition, he has been given 150 hours unpaid work, a curfew from 8pm to 6am for the next three months and tagged.
He must also pay the nine victims £500 each in compensation.
