A cat has died after being shot in Market Weighton.
The seven-month-old cat was found by its owner in her garden. It is believed the incident occurred between 10am and 11.30am on the morning of 3 April in the area of Bedale Road.
It is thought a .22 air rifle was used to inflict the horrific injuries.
It is the second cat in Market Weighton to be shot this year. In February, the Pocklington Post reported that a cat called ‘Chilli’ had to have a leg removed after being shot twice. That incident is believed to have happened on the Monkey Run in the town.
PCSO Terry Cundiff, of the Wolds Weighton neighbourhood policing team, said: “We are appealing for anybody that either saw this incident or knows of it, to contact the police on 101, quoting crime reference number CJ/2036532/2014 with any information.”
