The grateful parents of a child who was born seven weeks premature have thanked a Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at York Hospital for its support since the birth of their daughter.
George Johnson and his partner Laura Mitchell, from Pocklington, say they found it difficult leaving April, who was born on 8 December last year, at the hospital after she was born premature, weighing 5lb 1oz.
Laura said: “We were very tired travelling to York everyday and the whole thing was very emotional for us. “However the staff at the SCBU were very reassuring, informative and always offering support and advice.
“We were very grateful of this as it meant we were never worried about the care of our little girl throughout the three-and-a-half weeks she was there.”
Sainsbury’s in Pocklington, where George works as a baker, has chosen York Hospital’s SCBU as its Charity of the Year.
“Knowing that Sainsbury’s in Pocklington are supporting the SCBU as their Charity of the Year means a lot to us both as we have experienced first hand the amazing job they do,” Laura added.
“A big Thank You to York Special Care Baby Unit and thank you to Sainsbury’s Pocklington for supporting the charity.”
