Council sets its precept

EAST Chevington Parish Council has set its precept at £53,500 for the 2014/15 financial year, compared to £66,000 in 2013/14.

Clerk John Douglas said the decision to make a net reduction of £12,500 was to try to stabilise the precept,

When deciding on the precept, members were reminded that a payment made by Northumberland County Council for the current financial year to subsidise the effect of the so-called bedroom tax was not going to be available for the coming financial year.

This would have an impact on the parish council budget of £13,600.
