A new touring contemporary crafts exhibition will arrive in Pocklington on Thursday.
Make it Slow is making a journey across a network of venues in the East Riding, North Yorkshire and East Lancashire, and will reach Pocklington Arts Centre on Thursday, where it will remain until 5 April. The showing features crafts by six of the UKs leading craft makers.
Grace Whowell, curator of the exhibition, said: “The exhibition highlights how ‘slow’ processes [thinking, researching, experimenting] are vital to all makers and their practice. It also highlights broader issues such as sustainability and consumerism. The works featured in this show are an ‘antidote’ to quickly made, mass produced objects and help us to re-connect with the very human act of making things with our hands.”
