MELBOURNE Primary School pupils celebrated all things Oriental to mark the Chinese New Year.
Youngsters from the Foundation Unit enjoyed a fortnight of celebrations and recreated the sights and sounds of China in their classroom.
They had a ‘choptastic’ time cooking and tasting Chinese food including sweets and crisps.
On Thursday, the children wore the lucky colour red to school, and received lucky money bags.
The children also created a corridor of lanterns and talked about their hopes and dreams for the New Year.
Temples were created in the construction area and running races held, inspired by the New Year story.
As it is the year of the dragon they made some scary dragon masks and, after watching how to do it, did their very own dragon dance around the school.
