As Traditional Tales is the theme for children at Pocklington Infant School, the opportunity to watch a performance of Beauty and the Beast seemed an ideal introduction to the subject.
M and M Theatre Company kept the children fascinated from beginning to end.
The Beast was not too scary and the actor who played him introduced himself to the youngest children beforehand and explained how they were all just ordinary people dressed up.
A spokesperson at the school said: “Everyone enjoyed clapping and singing along and hoping the spell over the Beast would be broken in the end.
“The highlight of the show for some of the children however seemed to be the ‘dance off’ between two of their own teachers, who both danced very well it has to be said!
“Some of the Year One children had the opportunity to meet the actress who played Belle afterwards. They asked her questions and told her they were looking forward to seeing her again next year.”
