Families of children at Pocklington Infant School are calling on local musicians to help with their annual Summer Fayre fundraiser this year.

The event, taking place on Friday 7 July, will help raise funds towards a canopy for an outdoor classroom, as well as honour headmistress Gill Campbell before she retires at the end of July.

Jennie Ironmonger, chair of the Friends of Pocklington Infant School committee, explains: “We are in the early planning stages of our school summer fundraising event, which this year coincides with Mrs Campbell’s retirement, who has been our fantastic headmistress since 2008.”

“We want to push the boat out this year and offer more than the traditional ‘guess the sweets in a jar’ type games and instead offer a fun-filled night for all the family.

“The event will be opened up to all families and students past and present to help commemorate Mrs Campbell’s time at the school and we’re keen to muster support from the local community.”

As well as looking for local singers and bands to perform at the event, organisers would also love to hear from anyone that can help with sound equipment and staging and marquee or gazebo hire.

The Friends of Pocklington Infant School Committee is a group of parents who organise a variety of fun social events throughout the year, raising money to support the school in the process.
