The newly formed Woldgate School Equestrian Team, an all female team of five local equestrians aged between 11 and 17 years old, has been sponsored by Britcom International.

Britcom was approached to sponsor the team’s saddle cloths, as rider Aimee Pearcy’s father, Lee, has worked at Britcom for 10 years.

Their first competition as a team saw them show jumping at Northallerton Equestrian Centre, and despite only being three in the team due to injuries and illness, and believing themselves to be the underdogs, they won both the 70cm and 80cm classes.

Last month, the team entered an arena competition at Epworth Equestrian Centre, and this time took first place in the 70cm class with individual 1st places in the 70cm and 80cm classes.

Both of these competitions were county qualifiers, so the girls will now be competing at two prestigious venues: Bury Farm and Hickstead. The girls are now raising funds to get to the two events.

A team spokesman said: “The girls are busy fundraising to help pay for the trips including holding a grand raffle, a crowdfunding appeal, sweet and cake stalls at school and bag packing at local supermarkets.”

Rachel Reed, marketing manager at Britcom, said: “We wish the team all the very best for their two events in April and May and look forward to reporting on their experience and success.”
