BRA-WEARING cash collectors pounded the pavements in Pocklington this week for a good cause.
Anyone who was in Pocklington’s sun-drenched market on Tuesday may have seen the members of the Women’s Institute rattling buckets in aid of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
But the plucky women clearly had something to get off their chest as they donned colourful bras in support of the air ambulances appeal. The undergarments can be converted into much-needed cash.
Thousands of bras have already been collected, following a successful drive by local campaigner and WI member, Cynthia Warrington.
During Tuesday’s collection nearly £500 was made while some local ladies even handed over bags of bras.
WI president Sue Douthwaite said: “It went exceptionally well, people were very generous and I think the hot weather certainly helped!”
Meanwhile, old bras can still be dropped off at the Pocklington Post offices on Railway Street.
