Zoe Henderson is swapping the supermarket aisles for the glitz and glamour of the Miss England contest.
Nineteen-year-old Zoe of Market Weighton is flying the flag for the local area by competing in the Scarborough and District heat of the Miss England competition this Saturday 21 April.
The final is being held at the Flower of May in Lebberston and Zoe, who works at Tesco in Market Weighton, said that she has mixed emotions about strutting her stuff in front of the judges.
“I’ve never thought about modelling or done anything like this before, so I’m nervous and excited at the same time,” she said.
“I have seen that there are some stunning girls in the competition, a lot of them look like models already, I’m only 5ft 5ins but I’ll be wearing massive heels!
“I really don’t think I’m going to win, but I’d like to.”
The winner of the Miss Scarborough contest not only gets to boast the title of being Miss Scarborough and District 2012, but will also go through to compete nationally at the Miss England final later this year.
Zoe is one of 16 girls competing in this Saturday’s final and she said her family will be supporting her all the way.
The final ceremony is open to the public with fairground rides open from 6pm with the show starting at 7.30pm and an after party disco until midnight.
Tickets cost £10 available from the Scarborough Evening News Reception in Aberdeen Walk, Scarborough, Desire of Filey, the Flower of May holiday park, or by calling Diane Yalezo on 07864 028302.
