BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Winners ‘Lau’ will be performing a special show in Pocklington’s All Saints’ Church on Thursday (14 November).
The contemporary folk three-piece band is currently on tour, performing gigs in historic buildings and churches around the UK.
The Pocklington Arts Centre is staging the concert, and manager Janet Farmer is pleased that the venue is presenting another community event.
She said: “We are very pleased to be working with All Saints’ Church in staging this very special show with the award-winning Scottish trio Lau. Their music has elements of jazz, classical and roots, as well as folk.”
She added: “It’s just a beautiful atmosphere in the church. It’s appropriate to the music.”
Lau have won Best Live Act at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards a record four times, including this year, and their latest album ‘Race The Loser’ was shortlisted for Album Of The Year by the same awards.
Tickets for the event, which starts at 8pm, cost £16 and are available from the Arts Centre box office in advance of the event or on the door.
