A charity ‘Bushbeaters Ball’ at Warter Priory raised an astonishing £37,250, for the British Heart Foundation earlier this, month.
The annual event, started in 2009, is organised by Dorothy Brighton, and helps a different cause each year.
Featuring a raffle, auction and ducking stall, there were lots of activities for the 300 guests to get involved with during the event on 8 June.
The auction, with prizes such as a dinner for two at the Ritz in London and a day of shooting, were kindly donated by local businesses and raised a considerable sum.
Guests also made generous donations and, by the end of the night, the event had raised its biggest total to date.
Dorothy Brighton, said: “It’s absolutely fantastic how much we’ve made, it has been brilliant and I am grateful for all of the help and support I have received and would like to thank everybody who attended.
“We chose the British Heart Foundation in Pocklington to support because it is a great local cause. The ladies from the charity were astounded, they thought we might raise around £15,000.”
Dorothy said she is already planning next year’s Bushbeaters Ball, which will be in aid of the Stroke Unit at Hull Royal Infirmary.
