Appeal after store robbery

A robber threatened a member of staff at a village newsagents before making off with cash.

The incident happened at the McColl’s shop on Main Street, Bubwith, at around 5.30am on 4 April.

A member of staff opened the rear door to collect the morning papers and a unknown man entered the store through the unlocked doors. Once inside the man demanded money before leaving the store via the rear doors.

The member of staff was not hurt, but money was stolen.

The suspect is described as 5ft 10ins tall with a stocky build, short dark hair and spoke with a Yorkshire accent. He was wearing brown ‘Rigger’ boots, dark blue work trousers, dark jacket and the lower part of his face was covered.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone travelling through the village between 5.15am and 5.45am who saw a man matching the description.
