Pocklington Lions Club is delighted to have raised over £400 for Marie Curie during a fundraising drive at Christmas.
All together, the Lions Club raised over £800, with half going to the Pocklington and District Lions Charity Fund with the other half donated to Marie Curie.
With the help of local traders, the Lions raised the cash by selling raffle tickets to win a big chocolate Santa in December and a cheque for £431.83 was handed over to Cheryl Barrett during the Lions monthly meeting last week.
Graham Gillyon, club president, said: “We chose to raise money for Marie Curie because we know that the cash will be spent on people in the local area, we wanted to make as big a difference as possible close by.
“We have got a very dedicated group of local traders who lend their support to the club with its fundraising and I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped us over Christmas time.
“I think we would like to do something like this again next year.”
