A drama workshop company run by a Beverley-based couple has been awarded an arts grant of £980 from East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Jon and Nicola Dixon’s company Dramatic Theatre Workshops runs weekly children’s drama workshops at Beverley Minster Primary School on Saturday afternoons.

The company was established in 2009, and some of its current members have been taking part since the start.

The sessions focus on providing fun, imaginative classes that develop confidence, together with drama skills.

The young participants are divided into two age groups, from four and a half to seven years, and eight to 11.

June Mitchell, community arts officer for East Riding Council, said: “We are pleased to be able to support Dramatic in their provision of fun, accessible drama workshops for young people in East Yorkshire.”
