Shiptonthorpe’s Open Gardens weekend has been hailed as a great success.

Around 250 visitors walked around 14 gardens and saw the scarecrows on display including a coal truck, Donald Trump, Spider-man and a fisherman.

A spokesman said: “All the gardeners were congratulated on their lovely gardens and the visitors were friendly and enthusiastic. Many thanks to those who opened their gardens, helped in the village hall, manned the car park, sold tickets, printed the passports and organised the Songs of Praise service.”
