Sutton Upon Derwent residents set to host fete and car boot event
Sutton Upon Derwent is set to hold its first community event since lockdown over the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, July 10 and 11.
On Saturday there will be a village-wide garage/driveway sale starting at 10.30am.
People will set up car boot type stalls in their drives and garages. A map of venues taking part will be produced and available on the Saturday morning at the village hall.
The village hall, school, and church have joined forces to organise a fete on Sunday between 1pm and 4pm.
To help social distancing the event will be spread across three sites across the village.
There’s a bar, BBQ , tea and refreshments, craft stalls, best Victoria Sponge Cake competition, children’s trampolines and an inflatable slide at the hall, while the school will host a plant stall, nature trail, children’s games and art competition. There’s also a flower arranging competition event, archery, and a display of photographs at the church.
Throughout the weekend there will be a Teddy Bear trail for families to complete.
A map is available from Elvington shop and Sutton Upon Derwent Post Office.
