A husband and wife will today celebrate 75 years of partnership.
Nancy and Harold Johnson, of Wold Haven Care Home, Burnby Lane, Pocklington, were married in May 1938, just months before World War Two began.
Today, Thursday 9 May, Harold, 97 and Nancy, 92, will mark their milestone anniversary with family and friends, ahead of Harold’s 98th birthday on Saturday 25 May.
The couple met in Barmby Church Hall at a dance, and went on to have three sons, Tony, Jeffery and Francis.
Daughter-in-law Sally-Ann Johnson, said: “They are really sweet and they sit together in the home every day, but she wears the trousers. He adores her and worships the ground she walks on.”

Nancy is the daughter of a farmer and grew up in Barmby Moor. Harold was born in Seaton Ross.
Sally Ann said: “They are both great parents and great grandparents.
“They are liked by everybody, and are the kind of couple that if you have been lucky enough to meet them you will never forget them.”
