Cherry Burton Arts has launched a new venture which aims to provide a platform for young performers.

The new venture - theStage - will be launched on Saturday September 22 at the Bay Horse in Cherry Burton, at 8pm.

The evening will feature three of the region’s acoustic music acts, Ultra Violet, Mark Tiddy and Rob Peirson and Luke and Amy Hilleard.

Young girl duo Ultra Violet will be playing some of their best self-written songs and well-picked covers. The pair performed in Cherry Burton at the recent Jubilee event, where their outstanding performance won them lots of new admirers.

Mark Tiddy and Rob Peirson will bring their acoustic line-up to the venue, having entertained in the Bay Horse bar earlier in the year when their songs had everyone’s feet tapping. The due have a good mix of own material and better-known tunes, all well played and sung.

To kick off the evening, Luke and Amy Hilleard will reveal their own blend of self-written songs and great covers, backed with excellent guitar playing.

The sibling duo are making quite a name for themselves on Youtube, with a selection of their songs simply recorded at home.

Cherry Burton Arts organiser Martin Peirson explained: “theStage is a new wing of Cherry Burton Arts to provide a platform for young performers - and hopefully an appreciative audience. We hope the pub room will have a nice relaxed feel, and that people of all ages will enjoy the free music sessions.”

Tickets are avilable on the door, and further information is available from Martin on 01964 551145, or martin@peirson.karoo.co.uk.

More featured musicians’ nights will be set up next year, and until then ‘theStage’ will offer open mic nights every other month from October. More details are available on www.cherryburton.com.
