Year 6 teacher and PE Lead Toby Hone has set up a JustGiving page.

Year 6 teacher and PE Lead Toby Hone is running a marathon in aid of school funds.

He will be running circuits of Keldspring Lane, Yapham Road and Barmby Moor Road on Monday, May 31, starting at 3pm.

He had been in training for the Edinburgh marathon – now cancelled – and didn’t want his training regime to go to waste.

Mr Hone set up a JustGiving crowdfunding page with the initial aim of raising £500.

He has smashed this target, accruing £746 thanks to the backing of 43 supporters.

Mr Hone said: “The money raised will be put towards the purchase of much-needed resources including: a new phonics scheme of learning, computing equipment and improved outdoor learning spaces.”

Headteacher Jamie Baxter said: “We are very proud of Mr Hone running a marathon to raise funds for Barmby Moor Primary School.

“It is an excellent example for our pupils, showing that with hard work and perseverance you can achieve great things.

“Mr Hone has so far raised over £700 – an impressive amount that will go towards the purchase of new school resources.

“I would like to thank everyone who has sponsored Mr Hone and, on behalf of the whole school community, I would like to thank him for undertaking this sporting endeavour in aid of the school and wish him the best of luck.”
