Pocklington nursery opens after DIY store redevelopment
A new nursery has opened its doors on Market Street in Pocklington after a Disney-themed, Covid-safe celebration.
Blue Sky Day Nursery is now operating following the redevelopment of the old Falkingham’s hardware store.
The bespoke venue launched with great style thanks to guest appearances from Minnie and Mickey Mouse and a ‘Wixie hunt’ around Pocklington (Wixie is the Blue Sky mascot).
Children spotted Wixies in windows of local businesses who were supporting the nursery throughout the town.
The children even enjoyed a surprise visit from Pocklington town crier Geoff Sheasby, who was a little shocked when Mickey stole his bell.
The nursery held a rehome a teddy tombola and raised over £50 to help support YPC in Pocklington, which provides a space for young people aged 11-18. YPC also provides training, offers support and advice, and helps bring people together.
Jo Watson, area manager at the Blue Sky Day Nursery, said: “We now have an amazing, stimulating place for young children to develop both inside and out in the lovely freshly lawned garden area.
“The nursery combines a day nursery, pre-school and out of school club for children from Pocklington and the surrounding area.
“Following a successful visit from Ofsted we gained our certificate and have opened our doors to children.
“If you require childcare and would love to join our Blue Sky family please don’t hesitate to get in touch on 01759 529077 or email [email protected]”
