Dogs will be able to visit a new grooming salon in Pocklington following the approval of a planning application.

Nik’s Barbers Shop, which is based on Clarkes Lane in Pocklington, will become a dog grooming salon with ancillary retail after planning officers approved the change of use application.

The application was recommended for approval by East Riding of Yorkshire Council officers with certain conditions.

A planning report said: “The application site was previously used as a barbershop and therefore the operational hours of the proposed use as a dog grooming parlour would not be significantly different to the former use.

“The applicant has agreed to opening hours 8.30am to 6pm Monday-Friday and 9am to 6pm on Saturdays, with no use on Sundays or Bank Holidays. The specified opening hours are considered reasonable given the context within the town centre and follow the advice of the public protection officer.”

Pocklington Town Council had no observations to make regarding this application.
