Boot and Slipper: Free session at the Boot-It club. Learn about the club which gives help about the use of tablets and smart phones, Thursday 10am to 12am term time. Come and give it a try in a fun way.

Yorkshire Air Museum: Vintage Day at The Museum. The Golden Era Vintage Motorcycle Run will be joining the proceedings, more than 60 motorcycles, some more than 100 years old.

Townend Farm: White Rose Polo Club is hosting a Charity Ladies Polo Day which this year is supporting the MS Society. Gates open at 11.30am. There will be several thrilling polo matches, a charity raffle, charity designer fashion show and auction, a delicious cocktail bar, and afternoon teas and small plates available to purchase. Raffle prizes range from diamond earrings and new Barbour jackets to spa days, massages, and bottles of local tipple. Bring a picnic or book an afternoon tea, dress to impress, and most of all enjoy!

Pocklington Arts Centre: Mr Shell’s Seaside Spells - From Magic Carpet Theatre Company comes the tale of Mr Shell’s Victorian end-of-the-pier show. Tickets £7.50 and £28 (family).

Burnby Hall: Teddy Bears’ Picnic between 11am and 4pm. A fun-packed day for both children and teddy bears!

9 August


Burnby Hall Gardens: Cranford at 7.30pm. Step back in time with Chapterhouse this summer and find yourself whisked into the world of small-town life in Victorian England, as Elizabeth Gaskell’s Cranford is adapted for performances in some of the UK and Ireland’s most beautiful open-air venues by award-winning writer Laura Turner. Burnby Hall Gardens: York Railway Institute Golden Rail Band performs between 2pm and 4pm.

Burnby Hall Gardens: Percy’s Adventures between 11am and 4pm. Journey through time with the quirky professor on a time travelling mission and meet a whole host of characters, who have their own ideas about why Burnby Hall Gardens is so special. Energetic adventure walks with activities!

The Pavilion: Summer Carnival at the Playing Fields between 11am and 4pm. This will be a fun-filled day for all the family with kids rides, a selection of stalls and great food. Local Crafting Stalls , hook a duck, bouncy castles and much more. Go to for more details about the event.


Sherbutt house: Staff at Sherbutt House are holding a summer garden party between 1pm and 5pm to raise money for the Wolds Wonders and a defibrillator. There will ukulele band/singer Flo Taylor who has recently graduated from performance of arts/ Mark Bell Male vocalist/ DJs Gary Denton and Harris Bowman. They will also be selling cakes books dvd burgers hotdogs tea coffee etc. There’s a tombola/ Usborne book stand and face painting.

Village Hall: Arts and Craft Club at 7pm. The club charges £2 per evening to cover our costs. Materials and advice are available on a number of topics.

Burnby Hall Gardens: The Great Fairy and Pixie Gathering between 11am and 4pm. A magical day for those who still believe in fairies. Woodland Enchantment and storytelling with our magical musical sprite of the forest! Outdoor performance with activities by Rusticus.

The Concert Hall: A Table Top Sale in aid of Together We Care Group will be held between 10am and 3pm. At least 10 stalls selling a variety of goods. Tea and coffee available. Come along and pick up a bargain.

13 October


Pocklington Arts Centre: Gifted guitarist and influential singer-songwriter Ralph McTell, best known for his song Streets of London, will be performing from 7.30pm. McTell is conducting a world tour promoting his new album Hill of Beans, which has been produced by the great Tony Visconti. Pocklington Wolds WI Meeting: 1.30pm in the Roman Catholic Church Hall Pocklington on the second Monday of each month. New members always welcome.

Pocklington Lions’ monthly meeting: 7.45pm on the second Monday of each month at The Station Hotel, Pocklington, and welcome guests who are interested in learning more about the work of the club.

Barmby Moor

Community craft club: Boot and Slipper in Barmby Moor, 7pm-9pm. Experienced and complete beginners are welcome. Bring along your own materials and equipment and take part in crochet, quilting, knitting, felting, spinning and paper craft.

Market Weighton

Cruse Bereavement Care: The Market Weighton Support and Friendship group meets on the third Tuesday in the month at the Town Council Offices, Linegate, Market Weighton, 2pm to 4pm. The group is run by trained volunteers and everyone is welcome. Call 07852 179713 or 07870 365558.

Market Weighton

All Saints Church: The Carers Support Group meets on the second Wednesday of each month, 1.30pm to 3pm. It is for anyone who cares for a loved one and is an informal group to give the carers a break. This is free of charge as the Church donates the room. 
The Community Hall, Station Road: Market Weighton Memory Cafe is held on the last Wednesday of every month, 1.30pm-3pm.

Social Club, 42 Southgate: The National Vintage Tractor and Engine Club meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:30pm. New members are welcome.

The Community Hall: Market Weighton Musical Activity Group meets on the last Wednesday of each month between 1.30pm and 3.30pm. The group is run by the Alzheimer’s Society. Drop-ins most welcome.

Pocklington School Baby and Toddler Group: Runs from 1.45pm to 2.45pm and will run every Wednesday during Pocklington School term time.

All Saints Church: The church is open every Wednesday from 10am to 4pm with refreshments available from 10am to noon. The church has many interesting historical features and there are books for sale.

Toll Gavel Church Hall, Old Walkergate: Community Kitchen Lunches, 11.30am to 1.15pm. If you are struggling to make ends meet, homeless or would like to come and have a meal with some company then you are welcome.

The Community Hall, Station Road: The Market Weighton WI group meets on the second Thursday of the month at 7pm. Visitors are welcome.

The Bay Horse: Market Weighton’s Book Group now meet in The Bay Horse on the third Wednesday of the month between 6.30pm and 7.30pm. New members welcome.

Pocklington Arts Centre: Wolds Open Art Exhibition runs until Thursday, August 8. Studio exhibition featuring original artworks created by artists living and working in the East Riding. A full spectrum of materials and subjects on display, from paintings to prints and even a 3D fox, making for a true smorgasbord of pieces that quite frankly are looking stunning in the studio space.

Burnby Hall: The National Collection of Hardy Waterlilies in bloom. The Upper and Lower lakes at Burnby Hall Gardens are home to a National Collection of over 100 varieties of Hardy Water Lily. The Gardens are open between 10am and 5.30pm daily. Further details from or by calling 01759 307125.
