Food writer and restaurant critic Jay Rayner is embarking on a new culinary tour The Ten (Food) Commandments and serves it up at Pocklington tomorrow at 7.30pm.

The event combines reportage and anecdotes with recipes. In this audio-visual romp Jay Rayner attempts to lead his audience to the edible ‘Promised Land’.

Rayner is an award-winning writer and broadcaster, best known for his work as a Masterchef judge and restaurant critic for the Observer.

“I deal once and for all with questions like whether it is ever okay to cover they neighbour’s oxen – it is – eating with your hands (very important indeed) and if you should cut out fat.”

Rayner is former Critic of the Year and in the 2014 British Press Awards was short-listed for two awards.

Comedian Chris Ramsey – as seen on The Royal Variety Performance, Celebrity Juice, Hebburn, Live At The Apollo – is at the centre on Saturday at 8pm. Fellow funnyman Rob Beckett plays the centre on Monday at 8pm.
