Visitors to Pocklington’s Burnby Hall Gardens were wowed by an open-air production of Shakespeare’s comedy ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.

The audience braved the wet weather to witness the production, by Chapterhouse Theatre Company.

The play is one of two being staged by the company at the Gardens with ‘A Jungle Book’ to follow on 25 July.

Peter Rogers, assistant estate manager at the attraction, said: “It may not have been Athens, and the sun may not have been shining, but a hardy Yorkshire audience, umbrellas at the ready, braved the elements to watch what many who left at the end said was the best performance by the group that they had seen to date in the Gardens.”
