Chef demos, chocolate tasting and tea dancing will complement the fine festive food on offer at the next Malton Food Lovers Market on Saturday 1st December which will be held between 9am and 4pm at the Milton Rooms.
The regular indoor market which is planned to become monthly from next March has become a firm engagement in the diaries of food lovers from Malton and beyond.
Director of Malton CIC Tom Naylor-Leyland said “The objective of the Food Lovers Markets is to attract people to Malton so visitors can see for themselves the fabulous local shopping and savour the fantastic food on offer. The event in December will be our fourth Food Lovers Market and I am delighted that visitors have flocked in their thousands to each of the previous markets, providing a great boost to Malton.”
Stallholders at the Food Lovers Market will be showcasing their finest festive fare with products ranging from locally-produced honey to gingerbread treats and hot smoked trout to Dexter beef. The Greedy Bassets Kitchen will be cooking up some tantalising street food while Trotters provide sizzling sausages from the grill.
The ever-popular chef demos will return with Rob Porter, Chef Proprietor of The Green Room Restaurant in Scarborough, live on stage at 11am. Rob works very closely with local suppliers and will be championing Yorkshire produce.
Also on stage is Nigel Brown who will make a welcome return to the Food Lovers Market with a demo at 12 noon. Owner of a Cookery Academy in Barton upon Humber, Nigel is in the process of writing his first cookery book and is looking forward to returning to Malton.
The Tasting Table supplied by Malton Relish will feature a range of festive goodies and visitors to the Food Lovers Market will be able to sample tasty treats such as gourmet game pies and delicious figgy puddings made from local beer and fresh figs.
Meanwhile, Christmas wouldn’t be right without good quality chocolate so Malton and Norton Fairtrade will be on hand to fulfil visitors’ chocolate desires. They will be running a chocolate tasting event on stage between 1pm and 3pm where tasters can try out and comment on a variety of Fairtrade and organic chocolate.
Also new to the Food Lovers Market will be The Marvellous Tea Dance Party Company. The Marvellous Tea Ladies will be hosting a vintage tea party in the Studio Bar where they will be offering a fantastic array of tea and cakes for visitors to enjoy.
The organisers are hugely grateful to Malton CIC Volunteers who will be ensuring that the event runs smoothly throughout the day. Anyone interested in volunteering at future CIC-organised events are encouraged to contact Fiona Foley Croft on email@example.com.
