The attendance at Woodhouse Grange’s annual general meeting mirrored the cricket club’s 2011 success on the field and in-facility developments as it was up 10 per cent on last year.
A vibrant meeting was able to fill its officer positions and all its committee and sub-committee posts. Most attention centred on the election of captains and vice-captains.
Steve Burdett will skipper the first team for the seventh successive season, having led them to three Premier Division championships in the last four years. His vice-captain will again be Nick Hadfield.
The second team, having been newly promoted, will have new leadership with Paul Grewer as captain and promising all-rounder Matthew Shepherd as vice-captain.
The team newly elected to York Senior League division six, will be led by Marcus Smith, with Russell Bilton as his vice-captain.
The club’s York Vale League side will again be captained by Paul Townsley, with Steve Ainley as the vice-captain.
Indoor nets for the senior sides will be held every Thursday evening at Archbishop Holgate’s School from 8pm until 9.30pm, starting on Thursday 27 January. New players of every standard very welcome. Please contact
Steve Burdett on 07876 225577 or Marcus Smith on 07841 869802 for more details.
