Welton & Brough CC 2nd XI 42 all out
Stamford Bridge CC 2nd XI 131-6
Stamford Bridge second XI travelled to Welton and, in rain-affected conditions, were one of the few teams in the league to play to a conclusion and post a win.
Batting first, Bridge struggled to get the scoreboard going but a captain’s innings from Ollie Pimlott (29) aided by a well-constructed 45 from Paul Milner saw them reach 131-6 in 38 overs. Shawn Wilson led the Welton bowlers with 3-48 in 12 overs.
In reply, Welton were given little chance to challenge the target set, with the Bridge opening bowling pair of Ollie Pimlott (4-15) and Tony Smith (4-14) precipitating a significant early collapse from which Welton never recovered. Although the middle-order batsmen stayed around they could not score runs and Welton were all out for 42 runs in the 36th over.
The second XI is away at Sheriff Hutton Bridge on Saturday, the first XI is at home against Beverley and the third XI is at Burythorpe against Selby.
The club will be holding its annual race night after the match on Saturday. Everyone is welcome to attend.
