President’s clash brings down the curtain on season
Pocklington first XV bring down the close on another marvellous season when they play their annual President’s XV game at Percy Road on Sunday (kick off 2pm).
After clinching the Yorkshire Division One championship ‘on the road’ with two away victories, Sunday’s game gives the players and supporters a last chance to celebrate back at home, before thoughts turn to life in the North East division next season.
While the pressure is off after a hard-fought league campaign, Pocklington will be looking to an entertaining encounter against an invitation President’s XV that has a mix of youth and experience, with many of the players having performed at a higher level and with connections to Pocklington.
The President’s XV fixture is part of a busy weekend finale for the club. Friday sees the annual dinner and awards night in the clubhouse, where the various individual and team awards will be presented, including player of the year and clubman of the year.
Pocklington Under-13s will also be finishing their season with a bang as they travel to Arras in northern France to compete in the French International Festival of Rugby.
