Resounding win for Stamford seconds

Stamford Bridge Second XI 197-7

Whitkirk Second XI 66 (Pimlott 5-23, Healy 3-11)

Stamford Bridge second XI travelled away to Leeds to play Whitkirk and came away with a resounding win built around a fine unbeaten 79 from Dr Roddy Vann and a five-wicket haul from captain Ollie Pimlott.

Batting first, Bridge did not find it easy but a resilient 36 from Ian Fraser was followed by Roddy’s innings who, with Andrew Slaughter (30), compiled an 84-run partnership for the eighth wicket that saw Bridge to 197-7 in the allotted 45 overs.

After tea, the Bridge bowlers did not give Whitkirk any room to score runs and, apart from opener Luke Masey (21), resistance was futile as Ollie Pimlott (5-23) and Des Healy (3-11) closed them down for 66 all out from 34 overs.

Another good win on the road for the second XI who play Yapham at home this Saturday. The first XI are away to Clifton Alliance. The third team match was forfeited by the opposition and they are in a cup match on Saturday at Burythorpe.
