The first XI looks forward to a new season in the Hunters York & District Senior League Division Three – the first time the first XI has been in this division.
New captain, Matthew Atkinson, has recruited wisely to add to the majority of players who remain from last season. Alex Downey, captain in 2011, will help Matthew as vice-captain.
The batting and bowling should take care of itself but the fielding must improve in order for the team to make a quick return to Division Two.
It should be an ideal opportunity for Pocklington to blood some of the younger players that showed potential last season.
The second XI will again participate in the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League Division Six.
Adam Thomas continues as captain and will be ably supported by Dan Croft as vice-captain.
The team will hope to build on a solid season in 2011 and, as with the first XI, should be pushing for promotion.
The third XI will compete in the HPH York Vale Cricket League Division Four after gaining promotion from Division Five as runners-up.
Again, Steve Relf (who is also groundsman) will captain the team, ably supported by vice-captain Elliot Newby.
The team will again rely on a mixture of young and old, with several of the club’s junior players getting a chance to play against more mature opposition.
