Last weekend saw Pocklington CC start to get ready for the new season.

On Friday evening, the club held a pre-season meal at their clubhouse, with over 30 players, wives and girlfriends attending, helping raise over £200 for club funds.

Club sponsors The Fresh Food Company provided a delicious three-course meal before chairman Andy Inns spoke about the hopes and dreams for the club over the coming months - hopefully building on the successes of last season and the winning of the Albert Pattison Trophy for the Most Improved Club in the York & District Senior Cricket League.

Many thanks to all who helped make the evening a great success.

On Saturday, following last weekend’s successful NatWest CricketForce weekend, players and volunteers continued to get the ground and clubhouse ready for the first game. In recent weeks, the club has completed the construction of new nets and purchased new sheeting to improve their sightscreens. Not forgetting toilet doors for their new changing rooms.

Sunday saw 16 members complete a gruelling 40-mile sponsored bike ride, taking in the breathtaking scenery of the Wolds and surrounding villages in the Pocklington area. Many thanks to all who took part, and to Mike and Sheila Smith for the bacon sandwiches. It is hoped that this event will help the club raise around £1,000.

Pocklington CC Juniors also completed their indoor net sessions on Sunday. Outdoor nets start tonight (Thursday 17 April) at Pocklington CC from 6.15pm-7.45pm. This season, Pocklington will be running U9, U11, U13 and U15 teams in the York Junior Cricket League. If you would like to play, please contact Andy Inns on 07790 243703.

Pocklington seniors have already started their outdoor practice. If you would like to join, please meet at the clubhouse every Tuesday evening from 6.15pm onwards.

Pocklington host Londesborough Park this Sunday in a pre-season friendly - wickets pitched at 12noon.
