Pocklington arrived to play Sandal on a cold and very wet Sunday morning.
Sandal got stuck in and soon scored a try, but failed to convert. However, Pocklington kept their heads up and team spirit was running high. With great contact between the team, the ball was passed among the players gathering forward momentum and pushing Sandal back. The result was a try being scored and converted.
Four 15-minute games were played, with players rotating throughout. An excellent game of rugby was played, with some fantastic tackles and Pocklington forwards Alex Todd, Ollie Mann, Edward Jibson, Laurence Mason, Tiger Brash, Jess Bell, Josh Barwick and Will McMullan putting in some great drives and winning the ball many times from the mauls.
Pocklington also won plenty of possession in the scrums and line outs, allowing the ball to be passed out to the backs by Ollie Robinson who played for the first time at scrum half and rose to the challenge. The backs Jonty Goddard, Reece Dixon, Louis Ratcliffe, Harry Claxton, Matthew Mann, Charlie Laverack, James Wragg, Will Husband and Rob Boddy used the ball well, whilst pushing forward and covering good ground.
Although Pocklington did not win, they fought head-to-head against a very good team –it was a great effort and the team should be proud of their performance against very tough opposition.
The man of the match went to Ollie Robinson for an outstanding effort in a new position.
