The spring weather enticed 532 runners to converge on the Thirsk racecourse to take part in the Thirsk 10-mile road race.
The conditions were ideal for those that were chasing a fast time on this, generally, flat course with bright sunshine and a slight chill in the air.
Pocklington Runners’ Tom Danby had an outstanding run, finishing in eighth place in 55:49. Mike Pullon was using the event as a final long training run for the forthcoming Hull Marathon and recorded a more modest time of 73:47.
Paul Sheridan broke off from marathon training to take part in the Stokesley duathlon comprising a 5k run and 35k bike ride followed by another 5k run. Paul had a total time of one hour 47 minutes which was his best time by 15 minutes for the course.
Runners of all abilities and experience are welcome to join Pocklington Runners. We meet for training runs on Wednesday evenings at the rugby club at 6.30pm. Feel free to call in and join us for a run; ask for Jill Dowson or Marcus Bourne who will introduce you to those looking to run the same distance and pace as you.
